GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) – On August 19, 2024, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute at 500 Chestnut Place, Galion, Ohio (Polk Township). As deputies were en route, the 911 caller reported a single gunshot had been fired. The Galion Police Department and Galion Fire/EMS were subsequently contacted to respond.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a 24-year-old male resident had been shot in the leg by his 33-year-old girlfriend, also residing at 500 Chestnut Place. The male victim was transported to Galion Avita Hospital by Galion Fire/EMS and later airlifted to Ohio Health Mansfield, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Sheriff’s deputies secured the scene until a search warrant was obtained. Once the warrant was in hand, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene for evidence.

The female suspect was taken into custody for an investigative hold but has not been formally charged with a crime. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be reviewed by the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for potential criminal charges.
