CRAWFORD COUNTY—The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with METRICH, executed a narcotic search warrant on July 17, 2023, at a residence located at 7008 Marsh Rd in Cranberry Township. Assisting in the operation was the New Washington Police Department.

The primary target of the investigation was James E. Auck, a 54-year-old individual who was already in jail following an arrest on July 16, 2023. Auck had been apprehended by deputies after allegedly colliding with a US mail truck and fleeing the scene. Upon locating Auck, law enforcement officers arrested him based on an active warrant issued by the Crawford County Municipal Court. The warrant was for failure to appear and possession of cocaine and fentanyl.

During the search of Auck’s residence, deputies discovered and seized a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and several firearms.

At present, criminal charges against James E. Auck are pending. He is currently being held at the Justice Center on a $78,000 bond related to the July 16 incident. Reports regarding this case will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for review and consideration of all charges.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the case.

Sheriff Scott Kent and Lt. Craig Moser urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Office at 419-562-7906. Additionally, individuals can provide anonymous tips to METRICH by calling 1-419-52-CRIME or by downloading the METRICH app on their smartphones.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
