IBERIA, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Morrow County Sheriff’s Department has released incident reports to Crawford County Now detailing a troubling incident that took place at the Daniel Cross residence on Bucyrus Street last Saturday. These reports contain explicit material and language that may not be suitable for all readers.

According to the incident report, deputies responded to 8561 Bucyrus St in Iberia on August 18, 2024, following a complaint involving a 10-year-old girl who had sent distressing text messages to multiple individuals, including her grandmother, expressing feelings of being unsafe at the residence. Dispatch also noted that Deputy Dowell had visited the residence on August 15, 2024.

Deputies initially believed they were at the correct address based on dispatch information, but further investigation revealed they were actually at the wrong residence. The intended address was across the street.

The incident report indicated that Brandy Kirk suspected the children’s biological mother, located in Florida, may have been involved in creating a false alarm regarding the safety of her daughter.

Deputy Joshua Voorhees, who was accused of wrongdoing, did not document the use of any force on Daniel Cross, and Deputy Jackie Neuman supported his account of the events in her incident report.

The Cross family has enlisted the services of Marion Attorney JC Ratliff to represent them in this matter. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Department has committed to providing all body camera footage in the coming days, which Marion County Now plans to publish upon receipt.

The incident has sparked concerns and confusion within the community, with many questioning the actions of the deputies involved. Attorney Ratliff has expressed intentions to conduct an independent investigation to ensure the rights of the Cross family were not violated and to seek potential legal action against the Morrow County Sheriff’s Department for the mistake.
