Kiess Supply and Kiess Electric experiences severe damage from high winds

BUCYRUS—On April 1, 2023, Kiess Supply and Kiess Electric experienced severe damage due to high winds and a possible tornado. The main warehouse building located in Bucyrus, Ohio, suffered a major roof detachment. Additionally, one of the Kiess Enterprises RV and boat storage buildings experienced a similar incident. Fortunately, no one was injured, and no RVs or boats were damaged. However, significant debris caused the closure of East Mansfield Street to both eastbound and westbound traffic for the entire day.

Kiess Electric responded immediately and was joined by over 40 members of the community, 18 local businesses, and government agencies such as Akerman Insurance, Cascade Construction, Bucyrus Blades, Advanced Fiber Technology, Spreng Capital Management, Mead Electronics, Studer-Obringer, J&F Construction, Schiefer Excavating, Quinn’s of Bucyrus, Henak Masonry, JT Industrial, S&S Undercoating, Schwartz Quality Construction, Premier Tire Worx and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. The outpouring of support from the community was appreciated by Jeff and Jordan Kiess, who issued a statement expressing gratitude for the support they received. They confirmed that both Kiess Supply and Kiess Electric were up and running, with inventory secured and available. The Kiess Supply showroom was back open, and Kiess Electric was out on calls and job sites as usual.

Kiess Electric has been a family-owned business since its inception in 1934 and has extensive ties to the local community. They are proud to be one of the oldest electrical contractors in the state of Ohio and are committed to serving Crawford and surrounding counties.
