Tractors with supped up horsepower took over the infield of the grandstands at the Crawford County Fair as they competed for the longest pull in the annual Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association (OSTPA) tractor pull.

IMG_4136With a packed house in the Grandstands as well as the infield the event began at 7 pm with black smoke billowing out of the exhaust of the modified tractors and trucks as well as the roar of the engines as they tried pulling the sled as far as they could go.

Starting the event were the Light Limited Class. With 21,000-23,000 horsepower it was Travis Tilton taking first place in his tractor Always Something with a pull of 303.85 feet. Tilton, who has been with the OSTPA for three years explained what goes into a tractor to get the maximum power.

“A lot of time and a lot of help from a lot of good people. Wipe Out Enterprises helped us out, the family, everybody.” Tilton said.

Tilton added what he enjoys most about doing tractor pulls.

“It’s just something I don’t know how to describe it. It’s a good time with an adrenaline rush, and you got a lot of horsepower,” Tilton said.

Placing second was Greg Kenreigh’s Bad Company tractor which had a pull of 300.93 feet. Rick Heffelfinger’s tractor The Wolf came up just short of 300 feet with a pull of 299.175 feet and third place.

In the Super Modified Four Wheel Drive the top 11 places finished with pulls of 300 feet or more, but it was Kenny Lucas’ truck Fantasy with a pull of 324.055 feet that earned top pull honors. Austin Berry
finished second with his tractor Black Diamond with a pull of 318.920 feet. Steve Barker finished third in the Super Modified class with a pull of 317.270 feet by his truck Live Wire.

In the Super Stock class it was Keigm Parobek’s Another Dear taking first place honors with a pull of288.985 feet.
