The Bucyrus woman complicit in the murder of Shelly Shockey was sentenced to life in prison Friday.

crokieTwenty-year-old Danielle Crokie pleaded guilty in Marion County of complicity to aggravated murder Friday morning. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years. The charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, and conspiracy to commit aggravated murder were dismissed.

Crawford County attorney Adam Stone represented Crokie. He asked for mercy in the sentencing but Judge William Finnegan noted that her sentence could have been life without parole, the maximum penalty.

Police believe Crokie had been involved with David Shockey when the body of Shelly Shockey had been found in the basement of her home in March. Her body had been hidden beneath several other items. Marion County Prosecutor Brent Yager argued that Crokie had assisted her boyfriend in cleaning the crime scene and hiding the body. Crokie was 19 at the time of the murder.

Crokie’s co-defendant David Shockey had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder on Oct. 6. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
