Crestline Lions Club honors First Responders at annual awards ceremony

CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crestline Lions Club held its annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, February 27, honoring the Crestline Firefighter, Police Officer, and Dispatcher of the Year. The event took place at VFW Post 2920 in Crestline.

The awards were presented by Vicki Lash, a Crestline Lion and the longest-serving member of the Crestline Fire Department.

Mike Swick

Firefighter/Paramedic Mike Swick was honored with the 2023 Firefighter of the Year award, presented by Lash and Fire Chief Matt Wells.

Alexis Forwith

Crestline Police Chief Jason Kitzmiller joined Lash to present the 2023 Dispatcher of the Year award to Alexis Forwith.

Joseph Jessie

The 2023 Police Officer of the Year award was presented to Officer Joseph Jessie by Chief Kitzmiller.

Matt Wells

In addition to the annual awards, Fire Chief Wells was presented a special award by the Crestline Lions Club for his outstanding leadership since assuming the role of Fire Chief in 2023.

“It is our honor to host this event on an annual basis to recognize those men and women who protect and serve our great community. Congratulations to the well-deserved award winners,” said Crestline Lions Club President Janelle Grube.

Chartered on May 12th, 1949, the Crestline Lions Club has served the Crestline community for over 70 years. The club meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7pm in the meeting room at VFW Post 2920 in Crestline.
