The Crestline Board of Education was told Monday that it didn’t stand behind the district’s children, that its coaching staff lacked diversity and that its coaching changes were political. One community member offered up the Lord’s Prayer and urged the board members to, “Just follow your heart of God.”

More than two dozen people attended the meeting at the high school media center where Tracy Almanson-Murphy led the charge over the coaching changes: her brother Gary Almanson being moved from his freshman basketball coaching job to coaching the seventh-grade team and Troy Perry being switched from junior varsity coach to eighth grade.

The board approved the coaching contracts at its September meeting. It was explained during Monday’s meeting that head coaches give their staff recommendations to the athletic director who takes them to the board for a vote.
