BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser and service-safety director Jeff Wagner released an administration report June 15, 2020. The report is printed as it was submitted.

It’s been a busy month in Bucyrus, quite possible like no other that we’ve had in our past history where we have witnessed a large, peaceful demonstration protesting racism in our society and hoping for a day when all can live in peace. The event on June 6th was attended by about 200 people—mostly Bucyrus citizens of all ages who came to have their voice heard and to share their concern for the existent of racism in our county and in our city. This has been brought on by the death of George Floyd in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota by a police officer who has been charged in the death. Our event was peaceful, and we thank God for living in a great country that protects the First Amendment right to free speech. Our local Police Department led the security with assistance from Crawford County Sheriff’s office, Ohio State Patrol, and Crestline PD. We thank them for their service. Let’s continue to work hard to stamp our racism when we see it and treat everyone with dignity and respect. We were very proud of our citizens and safety forces—all who attended. Thank you.
Summer is here this week! We held our first movie in Shines Art Park last Friday, sponsored by Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream. It was beautiful evening to watch a movie and we thank City Attorney, Rob Ratliff for heading up the series. Everyone was socially distanced! Next movie is scheduled for this Friday and will begin at dusk. Thank you to Guardian Angels for running the popcorn wagon.
Our work continues on the Art Park Stage which is made possible by a generous donation from North Central State College Foundation and the State of Ohio. The flooring will be installed soon a fabric roof will be installed sometime this summer. We will host a dedication and kick-off concert at a later date.
Great news! The pool repairs are finished and we are awaiting final inspection by the Ohio State Board of Health before we are able to open. Keep in mind that the COVID-19 virus regulations will force us to limit capacity and require us to follow mandatory procedures to ensure your safety.
Many of our city workers are working reduced hours to save funds that have been reduced due to the coronavirus. Trash pick-up is on schedule but certain jobs may take a bit longer than usual so please have patience as we deal with the effects of COVID-19.
