BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)Aumiller Park Pool in Bucyrus has announced its opening for the 2024 season with limited hours due to a shortage of certified lifeguards. The pool’s opening day will be on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 12-6 PM, with additional opening hours on Sunday, May 26, and Monday, May 27.

Starting Friday, May 31, 2024, the pool will be open from Friday to Sunday weekly from 12-6 PM until further notice. The pool management encourages patrons to follow the Aumiller Park Pool Facebook page for updates on pool-related news.

In light of the limited operating days, the pool will not be selling single or family season passes at this time. Additionally, due to the limited pool staff and the shortage of certified lifeguards, all private pool parties have been canceled for the foreseeable future.

Despite these changes, the pool remains a vital part of the Bucyrus community, thanks to generous local support. The pool management is actively seeking new lifeguards and has increased the wages to $13 per hour. Wages for concession stand and front door staff have been increased to $12 per hour.

Prospective lifeguards must complete the pre-swim portion of their certification at the Bucyrus YMCA before the interview process with the City of Bucyrus. The pre-swim is scheduled for May 29 at 5 PM at Bucyrus YMCA, or sooner by scheduling through the Bucyrus YMCA aquatics department. The certification class will take place from June 3-5, from 8 AM to 5 PM. For any questions regarding the certification class, please contact the Bucyrus YMCA Aquatics Department at 419-562-6218.
