CRAWFORD COUNTY—Several upcoming construction projects are expected to impact highways in Crawford County next week, according to transportation officials. However, it should be noted that all outlined work is subject to weather conditions.

The first project set to commence is the resurfacing of State Route 96. This specific undertaking will involve a full depth reclamation pavement project, prompting the closure of State Route 96 between SR 98 and SR 602, starting on Monday, June 5. This closure is anticipated to last for a duration of 120 days. In order to minimize inconvenience for local residents, one-way traffic will be maintained solely for locals. Westbound motorists will be redirected along a detour route, which entails following SR 96 to SR 602, heading south on SR 602 until reaching CR 330 (Lincoln Hwy), continuing west on CR 330 until reaching U.S. 30, and finally proceeding west on U.S. 30 until reconnecting with SR 98. For eastbound motorists, the detour route will be the reverse of the aforementioned directions. The estimated completion date for this project is Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Simultaneously, State Route 98 will witness a culvert replacement project that necessitates a closure between Monnett Chapel Road and Caldwell Road. This closure will commence on Monday, May 5, and is expected to be in place until Friday, June 16, 2023. To navigate around this closure, northbound motorists are advised to follow SR 98 to SR 294, proceed west on SR 294 until reaching SR 4, head north on SR 4, and ultimately reconnect with SR 98. For southbound traffic, the detour route will be the reverse of the northbound directions.

Additionally, a minor widening project is underway on State Route 598 within the city of Galion, specifically spanning from Carter Drive to Brandt Road. This project involves lane closures to facilitate the widening efforts. Construction crews will temporarily close shoulders and lanes to conduct grading, seeding, and mulching work. Subsequently, lane closures for resurfacing purposes will begin in mid-May. It is anticipated that this project will reach completion by June 2023.
