United Producers holds 5th Fat Cattle Show and Sale at Bucyrus

United Producers Inc. (UPI) held its fifth annual Fat Cattle Show and Sale at its Bucyrus, Ohio, facility on June 28. Ashley Culp, Rick Heffelfinger and Tony Reed judged pens of three beef steers, beef heifers and Holstein steers based on a desirable combination of muscling and finish.

Plaques and cash were awarded to the top three pens in each category. The winners were Grand Champion Steers, Esselburn Grain and Cattle Farm of Shreve, Ohio; Reserve Grand Champion Steers, Bass Beef of Ada, Ohio; Third Place Steers, Esselburn Grain and Cattle Farm of Shreve, Ohio; Grand Champion Heifers, Andy Thomas of Plain City, Ohio; Reserve Grand Champion Heifers, Bass Beef  of Ada, Ohio; Third Place Heifers, Jeff Robinson of Marysville, Ohio; Grand Champion Holsteins, Watts Farm of Alexandria, Ohio; Reserve Grand Champion Holsteins, Watts Farm of Alexandria, Ohio; Third Place Holsteins, Bils Family Farms of Nevada, Ohio.

“We are proud of the quality of commercial cattle at the show this year,” said John Albert, facility manager at the United Producers facility in Bucyrus, Ohio. “We appreciate the support from the sponsors and community as we celebrate our fifth year of the show, and we look forward to continuing this tradition.”

There were 159 pen of three entries from 61 consignors at this year’s show and over 470 head of cattle sold. Holstein steers brought a high of $122.00 CWT and beef steers and heifers brought a high of $130.00 CWT.
