HOLMES TOWNSHIP―Holmes Township Firefighters responded to a car fire on US 30 near the bypass over Holmes-Center Road shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

According to fire chief John Schiefer, the driver of the vehicle called 911 after his vehicle caught fire when he was traveling westbound on US 30.

“We are not sure of the cause of the fire yet. The man said he blew a tire then the fire started,” said Schiefer.

The man’s name has not yet been released. Life Support Team EMS was at the scene, but no injuries were reported. The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol also assisted at the scene.

Schiefer said the vehicle is a total loss.

Traffic was stopped in the westbound lanes of US 30 until the fire was extinguished.
