Buses Full Speed Ahead In Bucyrus School District

The first day of expanded busing for Bucyrus City Schools went off without a problem says Superintendent Dr. Todd Nichols. Nichols says the buses made the routes on time in the worst of conditions.

Beginning Monday, all Bucyrus students in grades K through 5 outside a one-mile radius of the school were eligible for busing, while grades 6 through 12 students outside a two-mile radius could ride a bus. The expanded program affects some 250 students in the district.

Nichols says the only concern Monday was the possibility of an overflow on some routes and the district used other buses to follow to take care of that. Nichols says the district is hopeful that the additional busing will alleviate some of the traffic congestion at drop-off and pick-up times around the elementary school on Woodlawn.
