Athlete of the Week



At the end of each week during the high school sports season, Q92 will select the Central Monogramming Athlete of the Week.  Below is a listing of recipients for the 2008-09 season.  Congratulations to all our area athletes.

Why should this student win?: Skyler Tate is having a banner season for BHS baseball as he leads the team in batting average (.480) and homeruns (3). He also picked up two wins on the mound this week (vs. Lucas and Mohawk) to raise his overall record to (3-1). The Redmen are currently (13-2, 4-1 NCC).

Why should this student win?: Melissa had a great week to start the 2010 softball season. In five games Melissa helped her team to a 4-1 record by going 12 of 16(.750 batting average)at the plate. Melissa hit 4 homers for the week (1 was a grand slam)and had 15 RBI's. Melissa also had 11 runs scored, 4 doubles and 2 triples.

Why should this student win?: Had a 6th place finish at Mehock Relays in 100m Dash. Part of the 4x100 relay that finished 4th at Mehock and also on the 4x200 relay that broke school record at mehock as well.

Why Should Caitlyn Win?: Caitlyn scored 10 pts in sectional win over Mansfield Christian. She is always hustling and playing hard defense. A team leader whether on the court or bench. She also carries a 3.7 grade point avg.

Why Should Chris Win?: He is very athletic. He is a team leader. He not only does super on the basketball court , he also balance his grades by being on the honor roll. He is all around a spectacular athlete and student.

Athlete: Melissa Hoffbauer

School: Buckeye Central

Why Should Melissa Win?: Melissa scored 31 points in a tough 71-67 win over state-ranked Wynford. She also scored 30 points in a 55-39 win over Tiffin Calvert earlier in the week.

Why Should Natalie Win?: Natalie made the last four points including the winning shot with 2.6 seconds left in the game for the Lady Eagels in their win against state ranked Lady Royals giving the Royals their only defeat of the year so far.

In two games this past week, KaiLee's aggressive defense and strong rebounding helped pace the Lady Royals to two victories. KaiLee, a Senior and Captain, had a combined 19 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals, and 3 assists.

Why Should Melissa Win: This week against one of the top division 4 schools in the area (Plymouth), Melissa recorded her second double, double in as many games (30 points and 13 rebounds). She followed that game up with a 15 points, and 6 rebounds performance against Lucas (where she played less then 14 minutes).
